Victory Lap Celebration a Success

GoKidspicture.jpgThank you to all the Go!Kids and their families who attended the Valero Go!Kids Challenge Victory Lap Celebration on Sunday, Nov. 23 in the Alamodome. It was a great event and an inspirational celebration of fitness in the Alamo City. Click here to read the San Antonio Express-News story about the event.

If you finished the 2008 Valero Go!Kids Challenge, but couldn’t attend the Victory Lap Celebration, finishers’ medals will be delivered to your school in the next few weeks.

Congratulations to every Go!Kid…now keep it up and exercise every day to stay strong and healthy!

Victory Lap Celebration Celebrities!

NFL great Priest Holmes and five-time Olympic medalist Josh Davis, Subway spokesman Jared are some of the VIPs cheering Go!Kids on at the Victory Lap Celebration in the Alamodome, Sunday, November 23. Come by any time between 12 noon and 4 p.m. to receive your t-shirt and finishers medal. Finishers must bring your completed Go!Kids Challenge™ journal Coupon #5, or the coupon print out that is available at gokidschallenge.com after completing the program online. Join your friends, families and teachers in a celebratory walk on the floor of the Alamodome and a fun health and fitness fair. The entire event is FREE. Park in Lot B or C and enter through the south tunnel.

There will be 150 bike helmets given away thanks to Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio. Go to the Bike World booth after you complete your victory lap and show them your Go!Kids t-shirt (ONLY Go!Kids Challenge finishers are eligible). There will be entertainment from local schools and much more. Jumping Jack and Active Annie will be joined by many of their mascot friends, including Shamu. CATZ Sports will have an obstacle course, and Spectrum Athletic Clubs will have a bounce castle. There will performances by Windcrest Elementarys Step Up Team, the Footnotes Jump Rope Team, Street Beats Dance Company and many more. Several booths will offer interactive fitness activities designed to motivate the children and their families to continue their active lifestyles.

Former UT star visits Bellaire Elementary School

Former University of Texas Longhorn football star Wane McGarity inspired children at Bellaire Elementary School (Harlandale ISD) and Loma Park Elementary School (Edgewood ISD) to stay fit and make healthy choices. He also handed out special goodie bags with nutritional snacks. He was accompanied by Active Annie, Jumping Jack and X-Tra the news hound. According to Jerry Gonzalez, athletic director at Edgewood ISD, McGarity was a hit. “His message affected the kids during his presentation and after. He even motivated me!”

Get Your Tickets for the Women's Big-12 Soccer Championship

The San Antonio Sports Foundation and the University of Texas will co-host the 2008 Big 12 Soccer Championship Nov. 5, 7 and 9 at Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, Texas. Come cheer your favorite Big 12 team. Tickets are $7 for a day pass, and $12 for a tournament pass. Children five and under are free. If you’re part of a youth or adult league, or a school team, there’s a ticket package just for you. You can purchase a 20-ticket team package for $99 to the 2008 Big 12 Soccer Championship in San Antonio!
