On Sunday, April 11, the Valero Go!Kids Challenge culminated at the Alamodome for the Victory Lap Celebration presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas where 2,520 participants received a finisher’s medal and t-shirt for completing the challenge. After a celebratory lap around the floor of the Alamodome, Go!Kids and others attended a health and fitness fair where they received health-related information, participated in games, and collected goodies from local vendors.
2010 Olympic bobsled gold medalist and San Antonio resident Justin Olsen signed autographs and inspired Go!Kids with his message of staying fit and doing your best.
The spirit and enthusiasm of participants was a fitting way to bring our seventh Valero Go!Kids Challenge to a close. Our hope is that the children and their families will continue to walk, stay fit, and participate next year!

Amy is a kindergarten student at Wetmore Elementary. Her PE teacher, Coach Casteneda, encourages all her students to participate in the Valero Go!Kids Challenge. Amy plays in a basketball league, takes tumbling and is on a swim team. She also loves to ride her bicycle in McAllister Park and jump on her trampoline. And every night, she and her dad do push-ups and curl-ups together. Amy also has motivated her mom to get moving. The entire family enjoys riding bikes together on the weekend. Every Saturday her PE teacher invites students and their parents to run in McAllister Park. Keep up the good work, Amy. You truly are a Go!Kid!
